CAIRO - 24 May 2017: President Vladimir Putin meets His Holinesses Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria Wednesday to congratulate him on receiving the Fund for the Unity of Orthodox Peoples (FEPN) award.

According to Russian informed sources, “It is determined that Pope Tawadros II will discuss Christians’ issues in the Middle East with the Russian President, and cooperation between the Russian and the Egyptian Churches.”

Earlier, the Russian Church headed by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia honored Pope Tawadros II on the occasion of strengthening the bonds of Orthodox Churches worldwide.

According to state-owned news agency MENA on Tuesday, His Holiness Pope Twadros II promised to donate the prize. “It’s my pleasure to award this prize to the new cultural center, which is under construction at the new Administrative Capital under the patronage of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, to build a church and a mosque, which I invite you all to visit," said Pope Tawadros II during his speech at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, Russia.
