ALEXANDRIA - 31 August 2018: Alexandria University President Essam el Kordi on Friday discussed in a meeting with Cultural Attaché at the US Consulate General in Alexandria Michael Harker means of boosting bilateral cooperation in education field.

Kordi said that Alexandria University is keen on fostering cooperation with US universities, citing the recent cooperation protocol signed with the Ocean County College in the US state of New Jersey to activate the community colleges system in Egypt and develop modern technical programs for students in the fields needed for the labor market.

Those programs will cover the sectors of Information Technology (IT), cubersecurity and telecommunications, Kordi added.

Alexandria University and the American University in Cairo will soon inaugurate two vocational development centers at the faculties of engineering and commerce to provide training courses for students, with the aim of upgrading their skills before entering into the labor market, he noted.

For his part, Harker said the US Consulate General is willing to offer different educational activities for university students, especially in the area of entrepreneurship.

The US official urged Alexandria University students to make good use of programs and initiatives granted by the US educational institutions for the Middle East.
