CAIRO – 24 May 2017: Two border tunnels used by takfiri elements to smuggle weapons in North Sinai have been destroyed by the law enforcement forces affiliated to the Second Field Army, according to a statement by the military spokesperson Wednesday.

According to another statement, the Third Field Army arrested three elements, destroying a motorcycle and burning four dens used by takfiri elements. Moreover, they discovered 11 caches containing sustenance and fuel.

On May 11, four extremists were killed, a small truck destroyed and another one loaded with narcotics was confiscated in central Sinai by the law enforcement troops of the Third Field Army.

Since 2013, State Security Forces, represented in both the army and the police, have been engaged in violent clashes with the militant Islamist insurgency, killing hundreds of terrorists, predominantly in North Sinai governorate.
