CAIRO - 21 August 2018: President of Cairo University Mohamed Othman El Khosht that dormitories with the capacity to accommodate 14,000 students will be fully ready to receive freshmen and returning students by the upcoming academic year after maintenance and renovation are finished.

The restoration works, including the Sheikh Zayed dorms accomodating 500 students, are done for buildings, facilities, and restaurants.

El Khost stated on Monday that the university’s administration is eager to improve the residential experience for students providing multiple services and activities, regardless of the increase in costs covered by the establishment.

The president highlighted that regular checks on the workers’ and kitchens’ hygiene as well as supplied foods will take place. He added that students will be assigned rooms in the first week of the academic year in September, taking into consideration the facilities that must be provided for the disabled.

To meet the eligibility criteria to get a room, a student must be enrolled full-time, should be single and never previously married, never previously penalized by the disciplinary board, not transferring from another university, and passing the previous academic year without failing in any courses.

Cairo University received in June 9 state awards in different fields in the annual celebration held by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education.
