CAIRO - 20 August 2018: Units of the Egyptian, Italian, South Korean and Greek navies have taken part in war games in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

The exercises come as part of a plan by the Egyptian Armed Forces General Command to activate military cooperation with friendly countries.

The maritime drills, carried out jointly with the Italian and Greek Naval Forces in the Mediterranean Sea, included a training on how to protect naval units while crossing dangerous areas and to exchange the takeoffs and landings of Hill helicopters on the roofs of the naval units.

The Egyptian and South Korean naval units also carried out exercises in the Red Sea, including the implementation of scenarios on countering terrorist threats on the high sea and inspections of suspected ships.

The joint drills contribute to identifying the combat skills of the naval units as well as help in deepening military cooperation with friendly countries in the face of threats endangering security in both the Red and the Mediterranean seas.
