CAIRO - 7 August 2018: Chief of Staff of Egyptian Armed Forces, Mohamed Farid, arrived Khartoum late Monday, leading a military delegation that will participate in the fifth round of the Egyptian-Sudanese military committee.

He is expected to hold talks with Sudanese military officials to boost military cooperation between the two countries.

During a visit of Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi to Khartoum last month, the two countries agreed to coordinate efforts to enhance the security of the Red Sea and promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Relations between Egypt and Sudan are expected to witness more strength, especially with the start of the electricity linkage project between the two countries, the cooperation in the management and security of airports, and talks to discuss solutions for challenges faced by the Nile Valley Authority for River Navigation, which links the Wadi Halfa region in Sudan with Egypt’s Aswan.

Talks between the two countries aim to maximize economic cooperation and enhance various aspects of joint cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, transport, agriculture and animal production.

Egypt and Sudan set up a steering committee headed by the foreign ministers of the two countries to develop specific projects with timetables to be adhered to and to put into practice what has been agreed upon.
