CAIRO – 21 May 2017: Al-Azhar’s Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb headed to Riyadh, Saudi Capital Saturday to participate in “Tweeps Forum 2017,” which kicked-off on Sunday. “Hatred and Extremism and their impact on youth” is the title of Al-Tayeb’s speech in the forum.

Tayeb will deliver Al-Azhar’s message to Arab and Islamic youth through this speech. He will highlight Al-Azhar’s efforts to combat extremist thoughts, eradicating violence discourse and intolerance, as well as correcting misconceptions.

The forum will witness the participation of a number of ministers, international officials, experts and specialists from Gulf Cooperation Council. The participants will share their experiences on how to deal with social networks, how to use them to discuss ideas and topics, and propose solutions and initiatives.

Attendees will be U.S. President Donald Trump, Jordan’s King Abdallah II, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and US secretary of state Rex Tillerson. International activist Malala Yousafzai and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed will take part in a discussion on combating extremism and terrorism.

The forum’s central theme is how to ensure that social media platforms combat both terrorism and radicalization.
