Court issues final death sentences for 13 convicts in prison break case

CAIRO – 12 July 2018: Ismailia Criminal Court issued final death sentences on Thursday for 13 defendants convicted of escaping El-Mostakbal prison in Suez governorate in 2016.

The court has referred the case to the Grand Mufti for a non-binding opinion on the death sentences according to the Egyptian law.

The defendants include members of Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis terrorist organization and other defendants being tried in absentia.
