CAIRO - 12 July 2018: Egypt and the rest of the Arab region will not witness a partial solar eclipse due to take place on Friday.

The solar eclipse will last for three hours and 25 minutes and will be observed in south Australia and the Pacific and Indian Oceans, the head of the National Research Institute Of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) said on Thursday.

On July 27, Egypt will witness a total lunar eclipse which will be seen in parts of South America, much of Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia, Hatem Ouda said.

This is the second lunar eclipse this year, he said. The first one took place in January.

The lunar eclipse will be fully visible for 1 hour and 43 minutes.

Ouda said the total lunar eclipse Blood Moon will be the single longest eclipse for at least the next 82 years.
