CAIRO – 8 July 2018: The Ministry of Immigration organized an initiative titled "Your Vacation at Your Home Country" to invite Egyptians abroad to spend their holidays in Egypt, said Minister of Immigration and Expatriates' Affairs Nabila Makram on Saturday.

The initiative will be launched on Saturday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Cairo at the headquarters of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics; an opening session followed by a number of workshops and a closing session will be held, all tackling expatriates' inquiries in the attendance of officials of various ministries.

Makram added that the initiative aims to promote the connection between Egyptians abroad and the homeland and to attract their investments to participate in the development process.

She also said that the initiative aims to solve all the problems facing Egyptians abroad and to listen to their suggested solutions.

“The number of registrations has reached 370 people from different countries so far, the majority being from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United States, Australia and Europe," the minister said.

The ministry will continue to receive requests for registration to attend the initiative from Egyptians abroad until July 15.

In the same context, member of the Council of the District of Columbia of France, Jehan Jado, said that the initiative is the first of its kind to connect Egyptians abroad with their homeland.

“Egyptians abroad are keen to communicate with their homeland, ending an era of marginalization before the Ministry of Immigration's initiative,” Jado said.

The Ministry of Immigration has launched several initiatives in the last period to better communicate with Egyptian expats; such as the Roots Revival initiative, which came within the framework of a cooperation protocol signed by Egypt, Cyprus and Greece in December 2017.
