CAIRO - 28 June 2018: The prisons sector of the Interior Ministry said on Thursday 406 prisoners will be pardoned, while 480 will be released on parole on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr (Religious feast marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan).

The committees of the prisons sector examined all files of inmates to determine who is eligible for pardon and parole on this occasion.

The move comes as part of efforts by the Interior Ministry to apply a modern punitive policy.

Another 405 prisoners were released past Thursday per a presidential pardon, while 478 others were granted a conditional release.

On June 15, a total of 2,110 prisoners were released per the same presidential pardon.

CAIRO - 21 June 2018: A total of 405 prisoners were released on Thursday per a presidential pardon, while 478 others were granted a conditional release. On June 15, a total of 2,110 prisoners were released per the same presidential pardon that was issued on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr (Religious feast marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan).
