CAIRO – 23 June 2018: The United Arab Emirates granted an extendable one-year permit stay last week for people from war and disaster-hit zones, as well as for divorced women and widows.

The UAE cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, adopted on Monday a resolution granting nationals of countries facing war and natural disasters a one-year stay. They will also be exempted from any imposed fines.

The decision includes granting widows and divorced women and their children a one-year stay from the date of the husband's death or the divorce inside the state. It comes to ensure that they are able to adjust their social and economic status and to ensure that the family can support itself.
