CAIRO - 12 May 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will head the 18th annual meeting of the board of Trustees of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina on Saturday, a presidential official stated on Thursday.

The meeting comes after the president approved the appointment of the political science professor Mustafa al-Feky as the new director of the library. The board of trustees include a number of prominent international figures, as well as senior Egyptian, foreign scholars and intellectuals.

Feky worked as a political science professor in the American University in Cairo, and was the president of the British university in Egypt for almost 3 years. He is a column writer in Al-Ahram daily newspaper, London-based Al-Hayat newspaper and Al-Masry Al-Youm. He was the former secretary for information in ex-president Hosni Mubarak era from 1985 to 1992.

He held several diplomatic posts in the 1990s, including acting as Egypt's envoy to Austria and Egypt's representative at the International Atomic Energy Agency. Feky headed the foreign relations committee in the Shura Council in the 1990s.

He has received several orders of merit from several European states, as well as Egypt's State Merit Prize in Social Sciences.
