CAIRO – 12 May 2018: About 400 crows were shot on Thursday by a team of shooters and hunters from the Egyptian Fishermen Association for Services and Development after they attacked and harmed citizens and children in Suez.

Karim Al-Krani, chairman of the Egyptian Fishermen Association for Services and Development, said in a statement that the increase of crows in Suez governorate unnaturally led to an imbalance in the environment, adding that the crows attacked nests of other birds, killing them and stealing the eggs.

He also said that crows are the enemy of farmers because they destroy agriculture crops and fruits.

In the same context, Aziza Youssef, director of veterinary medicine in Suez governorate, said that there are several campaigns to eliminate stray dogs in all districts around the governorate in conjunction with the crow-shooting campaign.

The Egyptian Hunting and Shooting Association aims to increase people’s awareness of birds and animals that are banned from being hunted, and it also cooperates with the authorities to eliminate some dangerous animals that cause an imbalance in the environment.
