CAIRO - 9 May 2017: Egypt is again promoting itself as a destination for religious tourism by attracting people from across the world to follow the route of the Holy Family, according to a Tuesday statement by national carrier EgyptAir.

Minister of Tourism Yehia Rashed headed to Rome Tuesday to meet with Vatican officials in preparation for promoting the Holy Family tour, the statement added. This follows Pope Francis’ visit to Egypt April 28 as part of his peace efforts in the world.

Rashed is meant to arrive in Madrid to take part in the 105th session of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization May 10-12 after leaving Rome. The session is set to elect the new secretary-general of the organization.
