CAIRO - 18 April 2018: Speaker of the Arab Parliament (AP), Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salmi called on the UN to send an investigations committee to Israeli prisons to get acquainted with racist Israeli practices and flagrant violations committed against Palestinian prisoners.

In a statement on the occasion of the Palestinian Prisoner Day that falls on April 17, the parliament speaker stressed that arbitrary Israeli detention of thousands of Palestinians, including political leaders, children, elderly people and women, without any reason is a flagrant violation of UN conventions related to prisoners of war, international law principles and the international humanitarian law.

He called on the UN and other international bodies concerned to get Israel shoulder its responsibility towards Palestinian prisoners.

He called for ending Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and achieving a just and permanent peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
