CAIRO – 10 April 2018: A policeman, named Mohamed Ragab, was killed Tuesday in an exchange of fire with outlaws in a security raid at Hamra Doum Village in Upper Egypt’s governorate of Qena.

Officer Ragab, along with officer Adham Youssef and soldier Mohamed Essmat, were part of a campaign targeting a criminal hideout in Northern Qena. Youssef and Essmat were injured in the fire exchange with the criminals.

In February, Egypt launched a full-scale military operation aiming to eradicate terrorism across the country, and especially in the troubled Sinai region. The campaign has claimed the lives of dozens of militants, and destroyed several hideouts and weapon depots.
