CAIRO – 6 May 2017: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry received on Saturday his Eritrean counterpart Othman Saleh and Eritrean Presidential Adviser Yemane Gebreab, according to a statement from the ministry.

During the meeting, Shoukry stressed Egypt’s adamancy on enhancing relations with Eritrea and boosting bilateral collaboration in the various fields, which is in line with the country’s growing interest to cement relations with the countries in the Horn of Africa.

The ministry also added that the two sides expressed their satisfaction over the level of cooperation both countries reached, as well as the Eritrean keen interest in the Egyptian perspective towards the region’s crisis, especially the situation in South Sudan and its respective difficult humanitarian conditions.

Shoukry also reviewed Egypt's unremitted efforts to sustain peace and stability in South Sudan.
