CAIRO – 8 April 2018: The Egyptian military forces, in coordination with the Air Force, killed three high-risk terrorists and targeted two hideouts in Sinai, according to the 18th statement issued Sunday by the General Command of the Armed Forces regarding the recent outcomes of the “Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018".

Sinai 2018 is being carried out by the Armed Forces, in cooperation with the combat units of the Interior Ministry, since February 9. These anti-terror units continue to launch raids targeting terrorist hideouts, as well as arms and ammunition warehouses in Northern and Central Sinai, according to the statement.

Egypt Today sums up the statement as follows:

- Two hideouts were destroyed and a number of terrorists were killed.

- Three high-risk terrorists were killed and two militants were arrested in Central Sinai.

- Around 46 vehicles were seized, in addition to destroying others.

- A total of 114 motorcycles without metal plates were seized.

- A total of 386 hideouts and one warehouse were destroyed where 16 bombs, large amounts of chemicals and radio communication equipment were discovered.

- Thirty explosive devices, which had been planted along the various routes to target troops in the areas of the operation, were detected and detonated.

- A total of 250 wanted-criminals and defendants were arrested.

- Twenty plantations of marijuana dens were discovered and destroyed.

- A total of 584 checkpoints and unplanned security patrols were executed on the main roads and desert back areas, with full control of border areas in the western and southern directions.

- A number of tunnels in Rafah City and North Sinai were detected and destroyed.

- Two trucks containing large amounts of cannabis and opium were seized.

- A four-wheel vehicle containing large amounts of ammunition was seized.

- The Armed Forces have continued providing citizens with food convoys and supporting them to live normally. Moreover, the statement assures that the Armed Forces are determined to eradicate terrorism and extremism and to restore stability and development throughout Egypt.
