Pope Tawadros II leads the Christmas mass in the new Administrative Capital – Egypt Today

CAIRO – 8 April 2018: Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese congratulated Egyptian President Abdle Fatah al Sisi Saturday on re-election for second term. While leading the Easter Mass, The Pope prayed for the Egyptian President, hoping the latter would continue to develop Egypt.

Pope Tawadros II led the Easter Mass at Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbassiya in attendance of representative of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and a host of ministers and top officials.

The Mass was also attended by Minister of Military Production Mohamed Al Assar and Minister of Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Omar Marwan, Agriculture Minister Abdel Moneam Al Banna, Transportation Minister Hesham Arfat, Health Minister Ahmed Emad Al Din and Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil.

Also, the ambassadors of Australia, Sweden, Hungary, Canada and Palestine were present as well as the US charge d' affairs.

During the Mass, the Pope thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his greetings on Easter.

"We remember all the martyrs of Tanta and Alexandria attacks," the pope added.

"We pray for Egypt and all Egyptians to be safe and sound," the pope further said.

The pope was accompanied by a number of bishops, priests and deacons.
