CAIRO – 4 April 2018: Speaker of the Iraqi parliament Salim al-Jabouri expressed his country’s appreciation to Egypt's support for Iraq during its war against terrorism and the Islamic State terrorist group.

He added that Egypt received many Iraqis during the anti-terrorism campaign, stressing that Iraqis consider Egypt as their second home, saying: "The Iraqis did not find any shelter but Egypt."

It came during a conference in Cairo organized by “Support Egypt” parliamentary coalition, in the presence of speaker of Egyptian parliament Ali Abdel Aal and a number of heads of special parliamentary committees.

Jabouri added that his visit to Egypt aims to boost bilateral ties and develop a strategic vision based on supporting mutual interests.

The ceremony was attended by Mohamed al-Suwaidi, head of Support Egypt, and Ahmed Saad El Din, Secretary General of the coalition.

Earlier on Tuesday, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received al-Jabouri in Cairo upon the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union’s request.

Jabouri congratulated Sisi on his re-election, as election results have reflected people’s trust in President Sisi’s leadership in such a critical stage of Egypt’s history.

Jabouri also praised Sisi’s achievements in terms of fighting terrorism and overcoming it.
