CAIRO – 2 April 2018: President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus congratulated incumbent Abdel Fatah al-Sisi Monday for winning the presidential race against Moussa Moustafa Moussa.

Lukashenko said in the cable that he is confident that Sisi’s wisdom and experience would help deepen mutual relations in various realms, MENA reported.

Lukashenko said that Sisi is capable of fulfilling the interests and aspirations of Egypt, as he managed to maintain international stances and obtain the “great support” of Egyptian people for the path of stability and progress, the cable read.

In a press conference on Monday, the National Election Authority announced the victory of Sisi over Ghad Party Chairman Moussa Moustafa Moussa in the 2018 presidential election.

President Sisi garnered 97.08 percent of valid votes in the presidential election last week, where more than 21.8 million people voted for him, NEA Chairman Lasheen Ibrahim said during the conference.

Moussa received 656,534 votes, making up 2.9 percent of the valid ballots, Ibrahim said. The turnout stood at 24,254,152 voters of 50,078,138 registered voters, he added.
