CAIRO – 17 March 2018: The high voter turnout by Egyptian expats delivered a message of determination and persistence to the world, presidential hopeful Moussa Moustafa Moussa's campaign spokesperson Mahmoud Moussa said.

Moussa said that the campaign expects the participation of approximately 4 million citizens of Egyptian communities abroad.

Moussa's campaign expressed its satisfaction with the smooth voting process that occurred on the first day of voting abroad.

In a press release on Friday, the spokesperson of Moussa’s campaign praised the National Election Authority’s (NEA) efforts in pulling off a successful coordination with the Foreign Ministry to facilitate the electoral process for Egyptian voters abroad.

He also stated that no grave violations concerning the credibility and the fairness of the electoral process have been monitored by the party’s operation room, adding that the party’s representatives abroad observed that polling stations are abundant and located close to concentrations of Egyptians.

On January 25, Al-Ghad Party Chairman Moussa Moustafa Moussa announced that he would run for president. He eventually managed to collect the required endorsements from 20 members of Parliament, the majority of whom represent Menoufia governorate.

Eligible Egyptian voters abroad started casting their ballots via Egyptian embassies across the world Friday.

President Abdel Fatah Al Sisi and Moussa Moustafa Mossua are the only candidates approved to run the election. The voting process officially commences for Egyptians residing inside the country on March 26 and will last until March 28.
