CAIRO – 14 March 2018: Egyptian ambassador to Iraq Alaa Moussa casted his ballot in the embassy’s polling station for Egypt’s presidential election on Friday.

In press remarks, Moussa said that there has been a big turnout in the elections from the Egyptians in Iraq.

Eligible Egyptian voters abroad started casting their ballots via Egyptian embassies across the world and for three consecutive days.

“The Iraqi government coordinates with the consulates in Iraq to ensure the success of the democratic process. The election will be running smoothly and successfully; we will provide all the logistical and security services for Egyptians in Iraq,” Iraqi ambassador to Egypt Habib el-Sadr stated in earlier statements.


President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and President of Al Ghad (Tomorrow) party Moussa Moustafa Moussa are the only candidates approved to run for the election. The voting process officially commences for Egyptians residing in the country on March 26-28.
