CAIRO - 15 March 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi attended Thursday the 27th culture seminar of the Egyptian Armed Forces, where he listened to heroic stories of members of the armed forces told by their mothers, wives and colleagues.

The seminar, held at El Manara International Convention Center (MICC) in New Cairo, witnessed the attendance of Armed Forces officials and soldiers, in addition to religious clerics including the famous Yemeni Islamic scholar Al Habib Ali al Jifri, who also gave a speech about the role of the martyrs of the Armed Forces and police.

Mothers and wives spoke about their beloved sons and husbands, who sacrificed their lives for Egypt's peace and stability.

For his part, President Sisi praised the roles of the officers and soldiers, and condoled their families saying "the price paid by each martyr and injured individual in the army and police is maintaining Egypt strong and stable...And will not be wasted."

“I am ready to wear the military uniform and fight with the Armed Forces for the sake of the nation,” Sisi added during the seminar.

On the sidelines of the semniar, Sisi invited the families of army and police martyrs to perform the next Eid al-Fitr prayers with him. Eid al-Fitr is a three-day holiday that is celebrated by Muslims after fasting in the holy month of Ramadan as a matter of thanks and gratitude to God.

Over the past years, Egypt has launched several military operations, including: Operation Eagle in mid-2011, Operation Sinai in mid-2012 and Operation Martyr's Right from 2015 till present. According to official statements, these operations killed thousands of militants, who were involved in terrorist attacks targeting military forces and facilities.

The ongoing military Operation Sinai 2018 was considered to be the largest military action in the Sinai Peninsula for many years. The operation targets sites in Rafah, Arish and Sheikh Zuweid, in addition to all towns in the northern area of the peninsula.
