Egypt thwarts cigarettes smuggling operation

CAIRO – 30 April 2017: The Egyptian Armed Forces thwarted Sunday an operation to smuggle over 80, 000 cigarette packs through Egypt’s southern borders.

According to an official statement, the border guards managed to confiscate five SUVs carrying 12, 800 packs of cigarettes and two motorcycles belonging to the smugglers.

Carrying further inspections in the surrounding area, Egypt’s border guards also managed to locate and destroy four warehouses that were used to store the smuggled cigarette packs, the statement read.
