CAIRO - 7 March 2018: An Arab League committee held on Wednesday a meeting at the level of foreign ministers to discuss steps to be taken to encounter Israeli bid for a non-permanent UN Security Council seat.

The committee is held under Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al Jaafari with the participation of Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit, Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and Occupied Arab Countries Affairs Saeed abu Ali and Assistant Secretary General Hossam Zaki.

The committee underlined the importance of abiding by Arab League Council resolution number 8118 that stipulates that an occupying force with a long record of violations of international legitimacy resolutions cannot nominate for a UNSC seat under the UN Charter.

The committee approved the plan of action that was prepared by the Arab ministers during previous meetings to block Israeli bid to obtain a UNSC seat.
