CAIRO – 2 March 2018: Mostakbal Wattan Party (Nation’s Future) will organize a mass conference on Friday in Menya governorate to promote the election of Abdel Fatah al-Sisi for a second term in Egypt’s upcoming presidential election in March, according to a statement made by the party.

Nour Hatah, Secretary of Mostakbal Wattan in Minya, said that the conference will be attended by Ashraf Rashad al-Sharif, the party’s leader, members of the General Secretariat and the parliamentary bloc, as well as senior officials in Menya.

Heads of number of political parties held a meeting early Sunday at the headquarters of Wafd Party to discuss plans to mass people to participate in the upcoming presidential election.

The meeting was attended by the Head of Wafd Party, El-Sayed el-Badawi; Head of Mostakbal Wattan, Ashraf Rashad; Head of the Conservative Party, Akmal Kortam; Head of Al-Nour Party's parliamentary bloc, Ahmed Khalil Khairallah; and other representatives of Egyptian political parties.

Badawi stated that the political parties who attended the meeting represent more than 45 percent of the parliament deputies; they developed a plan to encourage the citizens in all governorates to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

The National Election Authority (NEA), headed by counselor Lashin Ibrahim, has announced the final list for Egypt’s upcoming presidential election due in March 2018. The list includes current President Sisi and candidate Moussa Moustafa Moussa, Head of al-Ghad Party.

Sisi showed his intention to run for president during his closing speech at the end of the three-day “Tale of a Homeland” conference, where the president and the Egyptian government presented an overview of the projects and achievements made in different fields during the last four years.

On his official Twitter account, Sisi called on the Egyptian people to participate intensively in the upcoming election and give their votes to whomever they see most eligible.

The NEA announced that the voting process in the 2018 presidential election will start on March 26, in a televised statement on January 8.

Sixty million eligible voters will cast their ballots in the election on March 26-28 in Egypt, while expatriates will vote on March 16-18, said Ibrahim in a press conference.

The final list of the candidates will be announced on February 24, he added, noting that the deadline for any candidate to retreat will be on March 1. The primary results of the first round of the election will be announced on March 29, where decisions on appeals submitted by candidates, if any, will be made.

The final results of the first round will be announced on April 2.
