Egypt’s new representative to UN submits his credentials

NEW YORK, 1 March 2018: Egypt’s new representative to the United Nations Ambassador Mohamed Idris submitted on Thursday his credentials to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

During the meeting, Idris delivered President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s greetings to Guterres. He also asserted Egypt’s support to the UN in its efforts to maintain peace, security, development and human rights.

Guterres also called for delivering to Sisi his greetings. He hailed Egypt’s role in the Middle East including efforts to combat terrorism and to reach stability in Libya.

He also noted that Egypt is considered a crucial partner to the UN at all levels. He said the UN is looking forward to boost cooperation and partnership with Egypt.
