CAIRO-28 April: Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi ratified on Thursday the Judicial Authority law that had been recently approved by the Parliament.

According to the new law Egyptian President will expect a list of the seven oldest judges in the Administrative Control Authority, Court of Cessation, State Council and the State Lawsuit Authority, to appoint the heads of the aforementioned institutions before first of May.

The newly-passed law stipulates that the president would have the right to appoint the heads of the Court of Cessation, the Administrative Control Authority (ACA), the State Council and the State Lawsuits Authority. The judicial authority’s legal norm has been for the judiciary body’s council to elect the oldest appointed judge as president.
