CAIRO – 27 February 2018: A high-level Egyptian delegation and a number of officials and ministers of the Palestinian reconciliation government, along with representatives of Palestinian factions, have resumed meetings for the second straight day in Gaza on the Palestinian reconciliation.

An Egyptian security delegation arrived in Gaza Strip on Sunday to discuss the recent developments regarding the reconciliation agreement signed between long-time Palestinian rivals Fatah and Hamas back in Egypt.

The Egyptian delegation, headed by Major General Sameh Nabil from the Egyptian Intelligence, will expectedly meet with Palestinian Minister of Transportation Sameh Tubeila and Palestinian Minister of Culture Ihab Bseiso, along with several other members of the Palestinian unity government, according to Palestinian media outlets.

Discussing the mechanism necessary for the full implementation of the reconciliation is shaping up to be the top priority of the Egyptian delegation, which will also expectedly address the obstacles that stand in its way.

Since the signing of the reconciliation agreement in Cairo in mid-October, Egypt has sent several security delegations to the Gaza Strip to follow up on the recently-established government's work.

In statements to Palestinian Sawa news agency on Monday, Azzam al-Ahmad, member of the Fatah Central Committee, affirmed that both the Palestinian and Egyptian parties agreed on several things, including banning terrorists from using the Rafah border crossing or taking privilege of it in any way.
