CAIRO - 27 February 2018: Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said that Egypt is currently cooperating with Ireland to benefit from its hands-on expertise in establishing International Branch Campuses (IBCs) in Cairo.

During his meeting with Irish Ambassador in Cairo Seán O'Regan, the minister underlined the successful cooperation between Egypt and Japan that culminated in setting up Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) in 2010 in New Borg El Arab city, Alexandria.

For his part, Ambassador O'Regan expressed his country's keenness on consolidating cooperation with Egypt, particularly in the higher education and scientific research fields.

The two sides also discussed partnership between the Egyptian and Irish universities, in addition to increasing scholarships and strengthening cultural and scientific exchange between Cairo and Dublin.

An international branch campus (IBC) is a form of international higher education whereby one or more partnering institutions establishes a physical presence in a foreign location for the purpose of expanding global outreach and student exchange.
