Arab League appreciates Venezuela's support of Palestinian cause

CAIRO - 25 February 2018: Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit expressed on Sunday appreciation for the Venezuelan support of the Palestinian cause at the international level.

During his meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Alberto Arreaza, Abul Gheit stressed that current developments of the Palestinian issue require rallying all international efforts to protect the legitimate rights of the Palestinians, including their right of setting up an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital.

Mahmoud Afifi, spokesman for the pan-Arab body, said talks tackled the developments in the Middle East and Latin America regions as well as efforts to boost relations between Arab countries and Latin American states.

The two sides also tackled the role the Arab communities can play in Latin American states.

The Venezuelan minister reiterated his country's commitment to defending the rights of Palestinians at international forums.
