KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait - 22 February 2018: About 335 travel papers have been issued for Egyptian expats who violated the Kuwaiti residence law to be able to return home without paying any fines, Egyptian Consul-General here Huwaida Essam said on Thursday.

Speaking to MENA, Essam said the move comes after the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry decided to extend for two month, to end on April 22, the grace period given to residency law violators to adjust their status.

The Egyptian consulate in Kuwait examined the applications presented to it by 355 Egyptian expats who are living in Kuwait in violation of the Kuwaiti residence law and accepted to issue travel papers for just 335 of them, she said. Those of the remaining 20 were rejected because they had no official documents to prove that they hold the Egyptian nationality," she added.

She advised Egyptian expats violating the Kuwaiti residence law to make use of the Kuwaiti initiative and legalize their status as soon as possible.
