CAIRO - 16 February 2018: The Armed Forces issued on Friday statement number eight on the outcome of "Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018' that was launched on Friday to fight terrorism in North and Central Sinai and other areas in the Nile Delta and the desert areas west of the Nile Valley.

The "Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018", carried out by the Armed Forces, in cooperation with the combat units of the Interior Ministry, anti-terror units continues launching raids targeting terrorist hideouts and arms and ammunition warehouses in northern and central Sinai," the statement said.

Up to 68 targets including terrorist hideouts, weapons and ammunition depots were destroyed by artillery shelling.

Security forces managed to seize dangerous terrorist hotbed in Central Sinai and kill three wanted terrorists involved in attacks against the Armed Forces.

Also, 224 criminals and suspects were arrested, possessing weapons and bullets. All legal measures were taken against the arrested.

Ten 4×4 vehicles were seized and 22 unlicensed motorcycles destroyed.

Security forces destroyed 150 warehouses, in which a large quantity of narcotic substances and communication devices used by terrorists were found.

Military engineering units also destroyed 28 explosive devices.

Five hashish farms were discovered and destroyed and 2.5 tons of narcotic substances were seized.

Meanwhile, the navy forces continue tightening their grip along the coastal area to prevent the infiltration of terrorists into ares where the operation has been launches, the statement added.

Air Forces also continue to tighten control along the southern and western borders in coordination with the border guards to cut supplies to terrorists, the statement noted.

Combat groups of the Armed Forces and Interior Ministry continue operating 580 security patrols and setting up checkpoints across the nation, the statement further noted.

The statement reiterated the Armed Forces and police persistence to eradicate terrorism and achieve security and stability for the great Egyptian people.
