CAIRO – 24 April 2017: A school manager in Egypt's northern governorate of Al-Sharqia has been dismissed until an investigation into a school worker over the sexual harassment of seven primary female students is completed.

A number of parents have filed complaints against a worker in the school who allegedly harassed students, with one mother saying that her 9-year-old daughter informed her that the worker touched erogenous parts of her body and that he is constantly doing that with other female students at school.

The worker has been referred to the legal affairs department to be questioned over the allegations.

Sexual harassment is rampant in Egypt. A 2013 UN Women study showed that 99.3 per cent of Egyptian women have faced some form of sexual harassment.
