CAIRO – 23 April 2017: MP Shereen Farrag was banned fro, entering Maddi Petrified Forest Protectorate along with media and journalists crew who were accompanying her upon instruction from the Ministry of Environment, she said in a statement, Sunday.

During the tour, Farrag was detained and all material recorded by the media crew were confiscated because they did not have a permit, she added.

According to her statement, after she followed the legal procedures to inspect the Protectorate as a group of staff took her on a tour she was surprised of the order to have her and the accompanying media crew detained because they do not have a permit and not allowing them crew to leave.

Meanwhile, sources from the Ministry of Environment revealed that the ministry staff did not detain MP Farrag or come near her.

The Minister of Environment Khaled Fahmy, referred all the Protectorate Petrified Forest employees for investigation for allowing the entry of media crew without a permit, according to sources at the Ministry of Environment.
