CAIRO - 9 February 2018: Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) urged the international media to stick to credibility and accuracy in reporting on the "Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018" that was announced to purge the country from terrorism.

The SIS statement on Friday called on foreign media outlets to obtain all the facts and information from the army spokesperson, Armed forces leaders and the Interior Ministry official sources and to avoid inaccurate information published by non-official sources

The Egyptian Armed Forces launched in a televised statement Friday morning a new major military operation dubbed "Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018" aiming to uproot terrorism.

The army spokesperson Tamer el-Refai announced in the first communique the launch of the operation and the raise of the state of high alert across different governorates.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior said that the ministry is raising the state of alert and security preparedness to the maximum level nationwide, taking all precautionary measures to maintain security throughout the country, especially in light of the fierce operations conducted by police forces in coordination with the armed forces, to root out terrorism.
