CAIRO - 4 February 2018: Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said al-Said asserted his country’s support to Egypt in its battle against terrorism during his summit with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Sunday.

The Sultan valued Egypt’s role in enhancing Gulf’s stability and security, confirming the long depth of Egyptian-Omani relations of cooperation and friendship, according to presidential spokesperson Bassam Radi. Sultan Qaboos expressed hope for Sisi’s visit to boost bilateral relations between the two countries, Radi added.

Sisi expressed Egypt’s appreciation to the Sultanate’s stances led by Sultan Qaboos, affirming that he is looking forward to enhance the bilateral relations as well.

Talks between the two leaders addressed economic cooperation and trade deals through the mutual committee, which will hold a meeting in Muscat soon. It also tackled the recent issues in the region, where Sultan Qaboos reviewed his vision on solving the Yemeni crisis in a way that can ease the suffering of Yemeni people.

The two leaders also discussed other regional issues in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.
Upon arrival at Muscat’s Al-Alam royal palace on Sunday, Sisi was warmly welcomed by Sultan Qaboos.

Oman channel, the national television broadcaster for the Sultanate of Oman, broadcasted the great official ceremony of welcoming for President Sisi that took place at Muscat International Airport at the beginning of his three-day visit to Oman.

The ongoing visit of Sisi to Muscat topped the front pages of Omani newspapers on Sunday, expressing their hopes that this visit could strengthen ties between the two countries.

The Egyptian president and his accompanying delegation will also meet a number of Omani businessmen and investors to discuss increasing cooperation in different economic sectors.

Radi pointed out that Sisi will also visit the UAE after wrapping up his visit to Oman, where he will meet high-level Emirati officials to discuss issues of mutual concern as well as the Gulf situation.

Sisi’s visit to Muscat on Sunday is the first since he took office in 2014, upon an invitation from Sultan Qaboos.
