CAIRO - 26 January 2018: The law enforcement forces of the Second Field Army in cooperation with the Armed Forces arrested, over the past two days, two takfiri elements in North Sinai, military spokesman Colonel Tamer el Refaei said in a Friday statement

Several other suspects were also held during the operation and legal measures were taken against the arrested, he added.

The move comes as part of efforts exerted by the Armed Forces to eradicate terrorism, he noted.

Three depots belonging to the terrorist elements, containing 15 explosive devices, a quantity of materials used for manufacturing explosives, spare parts of motorcycles and management and medical supplies were detected and destroyed, the spokesman added.

The army forces also destroyed many hideouts of the takfiri elements, six 4x4 vehicles and 15 motorcycles, the spokesman noted, adding that a tunnel along the borderline of North Sinai was also detected and damaged.

As part of efforts to control crossings leading to North Sinai, the forces seized three vehicles laden with a large quantity of electric wires, materials needed for making explosives and spare parts of motorcycles and 4x4 vehicles, Refaei added.

As well, four vehicles carrying large amount of marijuana and other narcotic drugs were seized, he added.

The Second Field Army continues efforts to eliminate terrorist elements in North Sinai, Refaei further noted.
