CAIRO - 18 January 2018: Palestinian Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Yousef Adeis called on Arab and Islamic nations to encourage their Muslims to visit Al Quds and pray inside Al Aqsa Mosque to confirm the Arab identity of the holy city.

Doing so does not mean that these nations are normalizing relations with Israel, he asserted in statements to MENA on Thursday on the sidelines of Al Azhar conference on Al Quds, which kicked off in Cairo yesterday.

Adeis said the event delivers an important message to the world that protecting Al Quds and Al Aqsa is not only the responsibility of the Palestinians but it is also the responsibility of all the Muslims in all parts of the world.

The conference is a clear message that the Arab and Islamic countries will not give up their support for the Palestinians, he said.

Adeis thanked Al Azhar for hosting the conference during the current critical circumstances and challenges facing Al Quds especially after the recent decision by US President Donald Trump to recognize it as the capital of Israel.

The conference, which will wrap up later today, aims at raising awareness about the status of Al Quds, emphasizing its Arab and Islamic identity and highlighting the international community's responsibility towards the holy city.
