CAIRO - 17 January 2018: One takfiri element has been killed in North Sinai as part of a campaign by law enforcement troops of the Second Field Army to control crossings leading to the peninsula.

The takfiri element had a machine gun and communication devices on him, said military spokesman Col. Tamer el Refaie in a statement Wednesday.

A 4x4 vehicle belonging to the terrorists has also been destroyed and 22 suspects arrested, Refaie added.

A weapons cache and strongholds of terrorists have also been detected during the campaign, he said.

A car laden with spare parts of motorcycles has been seized before reaching takfiri elements in North Sinai, the spokesman further said.

Second Field Army troops are still acting to crack down on takfiri elements in North Sinai, Refaie noted.
