CAIRO - 17 January 2018: A closed-door meeting started on Wednesday between Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Ethiopian counterpart Workneh Gebeyeh in the Egyptian Foreign Ministry premises.

The meeting will be followed by a plenary session of political consultations by the two countries' delegations.

Later in the day, a ministerial meeting will be held in preparation for meetings of the higher joint committee at the presidential level.

Egyptian-Ethiopian talks kicked off on Tuesday at the level of senior officials.

The higher committee meetings will held at the presidential level for the first time after an agreement was reached by the two sides on this score during a historic visit by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to Addis Ababa in 2015.
