CAIRO - 14 January 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will attend “Nation’s Story” conference that will be held in Cairo between January 17 and 19, where he will review the implemented development projects during his first term in office, presidency spokesperson, Ambassador Bassam Rady, announced in an official statement Sunday.

“Out of his keenness to activate societal participation and boost conversation with citizens, especially youth, and appreciation to their role in supporting the government’s efforts to implement national projects and development economic plans, the President will take part in the conference,” the statement reads.

The conference will be attended by a large number of representatives from all Egyptian society’s spectrum, as well as experts and specialists in various fields.

“The conference will include a number of round tables and plenary sessions, which will witness comprehensive presentations of the available information about achievements and projects implemented over the past four years, as well as the challenges facing the state during this period,” Rady added.

During the conference, the President will respond to the citizens' queries which were presented as part of the "Ask the President" initiative that kicked off from January 10 until January 15.

Through his official Facebook page, Sisi announced the conference, saying: "Together, we will review the successes path during “Nation’s Story” conference which will be held on January 17-19."


As the third Egyptian presidential election since 2011 is due to take place, over 23,924 signatures have been collected in support of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi running for a second four-year term in office.

President Sisi, who took the office in 2014, is expected to announce his nomination for a second term in the upcoming presidential election in March 2018.

Voting in the 2018 presidential election in Egypt will start on March 26, as announced by the National Electoral Authority (NEA) on Monday, January 8. Fifty-eight million eligible voters will cast their ballots in the election between March 26 and 28 in Egypt, while expatriates will vote between March 16 and 18.

Ever since the conference of NEA, Egyptians across the nation have signed forms at the state authorization offices to back their candidate. Sisi has received over 23,924 signatures until now, as well as the signatures of 519 House of Representatives' MPs.
