CAIRO – 4 January 2017: Giza Criminal Court renewed on Thursday the detention of Yousef el-Qaradwi's daughter, Ola, for 45 days as she is being prosecuted in custody for financing terror groups after she and her husband, Hossam Khalaf, were arrested in July.

Khalaf is on the board of Wasat party which is dominated by Islamists.

Yousef el-Qaradawi and his seven children - four daughters and three sons - carry both Egyptian and Qatari nationalities. Ola has been working in the Qatari Embassy in Cairo for years. Her father is the grand mufti of Qatar and has been promoting an extremist discourse inciting violence and terror attacks, mainly through the pan-Arab Al-Jazeera channel. He is also being prosecuted in absentia in terrorism lawsuits.

On June 5, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain boycott Qatar for its support to terrorism.
