CAIRO – 30 December 2017: The Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, condemned firmly on Saturday the “heinous terror attack” on the church in Helwan city, southern Cairo, on Friday.

On his Twitter account, Hahn expressed his sincerest condolences to the families of the victims, stressing that the European Union (EU) stands by Egypt and its people.

Days ahead of New Year’s Eve, Egypt witnessed a deadly attack on the Coptic church of the Great Martyr Mina in Helwan, Cairo suburbs, during Christmas ceremonies on Friday.

The attack claimed the lives of ten people, including one police conscript, and left nine citizens wounded.
