Security curbs 46 fake accounts inciting violence, conning citizens

CAIRO – 28 December 2017: Egyptian security services managed Thursday to weed out six fake accounts on social media sites that used to incite violence and sabotage the state’s interests and institutions. Legal actions have been taken against the users of these accounts.

This comes in the framework of the interior ministry’s efforts to combat all forms of crime, especially those related to modern technology. The ministry exerted great efforts in fighting the fake pages and accounts on social media sites, which aim to spread lies and incite violence.

Security services also succeeded in curbing 40 accounts that were used for physical extortion and fraud.
