CAIRO – 28 December 2017: Egypt strongly condemned the terrorist attack that occurred on Wednesday evening in a supermarket in St. Petersburg, leaving 13 people injured, according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

The statement also declared that Egypt stands firmly with Russia in the battle against terrorism and wishes the injured a swift recovery.

Egypt reiterated its call for adopting a comprehensive and international approach to confront international terrorism through stepping up efforts to dry up terrorism's financial funding and to eliminate the presence of terrorists’ safe havens.

As Russia gears up for its biggest holiday season of Christmas, a bomb went off in a supermarket in the city of St. Petersburg by al-Qaeda- linked terrorists, injuring 13 people.

St. Petersburg witnessed an even deadlier attack last April when a bomb tore through a train, killing 14 people and injuring 51.
