CAIRO – 20 December 2017: Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish said on Wednesday that President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will inaugurate the second stage of aquaculture projects in the East of the Suez Canal in the coming days.

In a press statement, Mamish stressed that the production of the second stage will begin after the inauguration.

President Sisi supports the establishment of fish farms, El Nasr Floating Bridge, 12 fishing ships and a cultural center in Port Said.

In this regard, Sisi also inaugurated the largest fish farm in the Middle East, located in Berket Ghalioun, in Kafr al-Sheikh.

The fish farm megaproject consists of two phases. The first phase was carried out on an area of 4,000 acres and will expectedly cover up to 70 percent of Egypt’s domestic demand of fish.

The project consists of a hatchery for fish and shrimp on an area of 17 acres with a capacity to hold 20 million fish and two billion shrimp.

The first phase of the project has a yearly fish and shrimp production capacity of 3,000 and 2,000 tons respectively.

The industrial city of the fish project includes four main factories, a development and training center, and a central laboratory to ensure the high quality of the products.
