CAIRO – 18 December 2017: The Ministry of Health provided free treatment for 79,000 citizens in 25 governorates, the ministry revealed on Monday.

This plan was implemented through 98 medical convoys in 25 governorates, including the governorates are Cairo, Giza, Beni Suef, Alexandria, Assyut and Port Said, during the first half of December.

“It was implemented with the participation of 473 clinics. It conducted 6,263 blood analyses and held 9,000 health education seminars to raise awareness of the citizens’ health. 430 cases have been transferred to hospitals for surgery and the medical boards issued decisions for treatment on the expenditure of the state and health insurance,” said Wafaa Sadek, general head of the medical convoys.

On the other hand, there is a shortage of penicillin, so around 200,000 packets of penicillin will be pumped into the market next Sunday, according to Rasha Ziadeh, head of the Central Administration of Pharmacy Affairs at the Ministry of Health.

Ziadeh asserted that the Ministry of Health will conduct regular inspections of pharmacies across Egypt on a daily basis and assure that they have an adequate balance of medicines for all patients.
